Zoo Exhibit at History Museum
Our cozy ‘rescue’ zoo all started with an injured deer. The Folsom Zoo has a variety of animals from feral cats to tigers today, but not many know it’s origins. The Folsom History Museum has a display for the next month on the zoo’s origins.
Help the Zoo Win $10,000!
The Folsom Zoo could win $10,000, thanks to IKEA staff, if MyFolsomites and other Folsom friends get out to vote. The contest ends on the 20th, and the more people vote and the more times they vote, the more likely it is the log cabin will get a makeover, thanks to IKEA.
Folsom Zoo Lights!
Have you been to the Folsom Zoo yet this holiday season? It’s lit up for Christmas, with thousands of lights on display. A Christmas tree hill, Santa Claus, carolers, and a lot of great displays make it worth the trip. Bonus, you can see the new baby mountain lion and bear cub while you are there!

Christmas in Folsom
A number of events are planned in Folsom for the holidays that give people a great “small town” feeling. Start with the Christmas Tree lighting on Friday, where thousands show up for caroling, “snow”, and of course the tree. Immediately after is the Craft Fair for Christmas shopping. Then, the Zoo is hosting “Wild Nights, Holiday Lights” throughout the season, where thousands of lights will adorn the Folsom Zoo.

Meet Cedar!
The Folsom Zoo is home to a new cougar cub and you can see her now! Cedar is getting accimated to her new friends and surroundings and can be seen from 1-2 PM every day (except Monday) at the Zoo.

New Cougar Cub at Zoo

A baby cougar has been relocated to the Folsom Zoo, and needs a name! The cougar was found by the Department of Fish & Game after someone was illegally keeping her in the Santa Cruz Mountains. She is being nursed back to health and will slowly be brought in with the other cougars.
Bundle Up and Get Out
It’s officially Christmas season, which means the lights are going up throughout town. Before you go for a drive to find the best lights, you can check out the Zoo’s “Wild Nights, Holiday Lights” starting Thursday, and Folsom’s Christmas Tree lighting is on Friday on Sutter Street.
Wild Nights, Holiday Lights!
Christmas is just around the corner, believe it or not… and this year will have a new event – the zoo will be transformed in to a spectacle of thousands of lights. If you are interested in decorating a tree, plan to attend a preview event November 13.
Zoo Welcomes Baby Bear
The Folsom Zoo is happy to announce the addition of a baby bear. The as-yet-unnamed cub was rescued after its parents became too dependent on human food. Sadly, as the bear arrives, the zoo must say goodbye to a golden eagle and bald eagle, who died.
