Jimboy’s to Re-Open Feb 25th

Though Jimboy’s Tacos is very much open for business during their remodel, they are anxiously awaiting a huge re-opening celebration on February 25th. They are giving away 2 free tacos for every customer that visits the restaurant that day (as well as drawings for lift tickets and movie passes). Most have been curiously watching the remodel as it has been taking shape – it looks like an amusement park-style Mayan temple, inside and out. Though they are putting on the finishing touches this week, it has already started to attract many curious onlookers.

Local Man Conquers Burrito

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FOLSOM – Folsom man Mike Muir fought valiantly and destroyed a burrito of epic proportions. Newly-opened Freebird’s World Burrito’s rumored “Super Monster”, weighing in at 7 pounds, had never been slain in its Folsom store. On January 28, 2012, Muir killed this famed super monster.

Date Night: “Tattoo” & Land Ocean

Date Nights are hard to come by when you have kids, but Mrs. MyFolsom and I got an evening alone and decided to take an opportunity to do a few things we’ve been wanting to do.

A little background here – we have a “40 Before 40″ list of things we want to accomplish in life before we both turn 40. The list ranges from going to Mardi Gras to serving food at a local soup kitchen. Some are hard, some are easy. More on this later.

So we went to the Palladio Theater (awesome theater, by the way – digital projection, stadium seating, first class all the way) to check out The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. We’ve both read the book, so we know how it’s going to go – but weren’t sure how well it would translate in the movies. It was very well done, and perfectly casted. (more…)

New Businesses Sprouting Up

Quite a few new businesses are popping up in Folsom, which must be a good sign for the economy…

* Chicago Fire @ Palladio had its soft launch today and officially opens Monday.
* Lockdown Brewing Company on Sutter Street enjoyed its successful soft launch.
* Chez Daniel (across from City Hall) is rumored to be open for business (dinner only).
* The Threading Place is now open at Palladio.

Palladio Mall has a number of new tenants lined up and ready to get construction started (or finished)… it looks to be a great 2012 for Palladio!

$5 Diner Closing June 5

$5 Diner will be closing June 5. The breakfast & coffee shop has been in town a few years and was originally an offshoot of popular Lake Tahoe eatery Ernie’s Diner. The sign on the door has stated that a family has purchased the restaurant. It is unknown when a replacement will be in.

Coming Soon: Burgerocity

Burger fans – rejoice! A new burger joint is joining the fray. Burgerocity is coming to the Century 14 strip center, in the location formerly occupied by Ugly Mug and Gonzo’s Deli (next to Chili’s). No opening date is known, but signage is up and a Facebook page created.

Spaghetti Slingers Coming Soon

Palladio Mall seems to have inked another restaurant in the near future – Spaghetti Slingers has a website set up with Palladio Mall as the location, next to the movie theater. It appears they have hit a snag however, as October 25 2010 was the last update on the progress. No new construction seems to be under way, so either they are running in to permit problems or funding issues.

Johnny Rockets is Open!

Palladio Mall is happy to announce the arrival of Johnny Rockets! The hamburger chain is well-known for old-fashioned burgers, fries, and milkshakes, as well as other 50′s diner specialties. Blue Nami is expected to open soon as well, adding new eateries to explore before or after a movie at Palladio 16.

2 Restaurants Opening Soon

Palladio Mall is anxiously awaiting its 2 newest restaurants. Blue Nami and Johnny Rockets are due to arrive this month. Blue Nami is a sushi restaurant with locations in Roseville and Orangevale, while Johnny Rockets is a national burger chain.

New Steakhouse Coming

A new steakhouse is rumored to be coming to Folsom… at the location of the former Ruby Tuesday’s. The Bee is reporting that a steakhouse called “Land Ocean” is coming, with a goal of opening in April.
