They might be only 7, but Nic and Tristan Puehse are on the
beginning of what promises to be a fun and exciting adventure.

It all started in December of 2003 when Michael & Caryn Puehse took
their twin 7 year old sons, Nic and Tristan, to the Cummins Family
Skate Park in Folsom. Michael knew his sons liked wakeboarding, but
never expected to see the talent he witnessed when he saw his boys
jump on a skateboard for the first time. “It’s exciting & sometimes
nerve-racking watching them skate down 9-foot walls at full speed
because they have little fear” said Michael. Everyday Michael, Caryn
and little sister Natasha watch the boys skateboard at Folsom
Skatepark for hours; they get lots of pleasure watching their twins
enjoy their passion. “Amazingly enough, we have had no major
injuries thus far, just minor ones at this point” Michael states.
Nic and Tristan don’t have a coach; they do however, watch videos
and local skateboarding veterans to enhance their skills. It is hard
to believe that his two sons who took the gold and silver at the
2004 California State Games are technically still supposed to be in
car seats. Local and national sponsors have been more than willing
to have Nic and Tristan represent their products. Their sponsors
include Dregs Skateboard, ONEWEST Clothing, Anex Trucks, Planet
Altitude, Utopia Optics, Sk8nuts, Surf & Skate. They are also flowed
(unofficial sponsorship) by Globe Shoes, Kronik Energy Drinks, and
Skull Candy.
So, what’s on the horizon for Nic and Tristan? The family just got
back from Los Angeles where they met with commercial and film
executives. “They did great on their auditions. They had to rehearse
& read lines and weren’t nervous at all” Michael states. It’s
possible Nic and Tristan will soon be seen on the big screen too,
Raging Elf Entertainment manages the boys. Last Friday they
auditioned for Cheaper by the Dozen 2 starring Steve Martin. Also,
the twins recently met up with such skateboarding icons as Tony
Hawk, Buckey Lasek, Bob Burnquist and Pier Luc Gagnon. Nic and
Tristan don’t get star struck, but feel lucky to be able to watch
these pros up close and personal.
Every month Nic and Tristan compete against each other and other
skaters in skateboarding competitions. In their very first
competition, Tristan took 1st Place and Best Trick, while Nic took
2nd, but that didn’t stop Nic from taking the gold in the California
State Games two months later (Tristan took silver).
If you want to see the two boys skate their hearts out, they
practice most weekdays at 3:30 pm at Cummins Family Skate Park on
Creekside Drive in Folsom.
