Know Your Wildlife
Folsom's spreading in to the hills, and not surprisingly, a lot of wildlife is still native to the area. It's not uncommon to spot turkeys, rattlesnakes, even coyotes. More uncommon (but not unheard of) are mountain lions, bobcats, and bears. Would you know what to do if you encountered one?Labels: wildlife

Bear Sighting in Folsom
A black bear was recently spotted in the Oak Chan area. El Dorado Hills has had multiple sightings of a bear that continues to elude capture, so it's quite possible it might be the same bear. Keep your eyes peeled! * El Dorado Hills story in the BeeLabels: wildlife

It's Snake Season
The recent sunshine typically brings out quite a few snakes out of their dens, and rattlesnake sightings are not uncommon in the Folsom area. If you spot a snake, your best bet is to call a handler and have it removed... most snake bites occur when people try to kill them. * Also see: Folsom WildlifeLabels: wildlife

Coyote Attack at Folsom Lake
Rattlesnakes are not the only thing to be careful of in Folsom; so are coyotes. 2 coyotes attacked a dog that was off leash near Granite Bay Beach at Folsom Lake. Though the dog is OK, it's a humbling experience to say the least... coyotes usually do not go near people, however this recent attack proves they are becoming more brazen. More in TheKCRAChannel.com

Black Bear Spotted in Folsom Neighborhoods
During the past week, a wild black bear has been spotted dozens of times, for 4 separate nights in Folsom. Fish and game have set up a bear trap to try and catch it, although it has not been successful yet. Although the bear is in a residential area, it appears extremely scared of people and is obviously very lost. If you are concerned for yourself or your pet, make sure you carry a whistle with you on walks - it would likely scare it off. More information on FOX 40's website.
