Sutter Street 2010?
Sutter street may be getting a dramatic facelift in a few years. The city is considering some drastic changes to the historic area, including ripping out the medians and extending out the sidewalk. Improvements would also include more handicap-accessibility.Labels: future, Sutter Street, Sutter Street Makeover

Worried About Water
Folsom continues to expand... only problem is, we don't have enough water. If we had a drought year next year, the city would have to cut consumption by around 20%. By 2010, a 40% cutback would be needed. Find out what the city is doing.Labels: drought, future, water issues

Time to Pay Up
Effective January 1, Folsom will begin metering water usage within the city. The meters are part of the city's efforts to meter the entire city by 2013, which is the state law. Death Row Coming?
San Quentin is home to a number of death row inmates, including Scott Peterson. However, it is also home to some prime real estate in the Bay Area. If they were to shut it down and sell it, death row would likely end up in Folsom. A $200 expansion is due for San Quentin, however it is being quietly opposed by lawmakers who want San Quentin vacated by 2010. Story in today's Bee.Labels: future, real estate

Rainbow Bridge to be Demolished
In an astonishing turn of events, a minor architectural flaw in the Rainbow Bridge has prompted city council to unanimously approve the demolition of the historic landmark. Architects discovered the flaw when inspecting the bridge for an upcoming lane-widening project. A new, box-like bridge is slated to replace the bridge, though it will likely not be in place until 2010. In the meantime, the city will be forced to use one bridge while the Dam replacement bridge is built.
