Emergency Fireworks Ordinance Enacted
City Council had an emergency meeting last night to enact an emergency ordinance regarding fireworks, due to the high fire danger. Fireworks Not OK in Some Parks
Folsom City Lions Park, Kemp Park, and Lew Howard Community Park will have a ban on fireworks on the 4th of July; it includes streets, driveways, walkways, and parking lots. 'Safe and Sane' fireworks are still allowed at other parks, personal driveways, and neighborhood gatherings on streets.Labels: 4th of July, fireworks

Fire in Catlin Park
Prairie Oaks residents had a bit of a scare today, as half the park was burned in a grass fire. Fratis Street residents were temporarily evacuated as the fire burned, but it was contained quickly before any structure fires. It's Rodeo Time! Which means annual tradition of mutton bustin', bull ridin', and steer ropin'. Fireworks Banned in 3 Parks
'Safe and Sane' fireworks are legal in all of Sacramento county, however the City of Folsom has banned fireworks in City Lions Park, Jack Kemp Community Park, and Lew Howard Park - for safety reasons, and to minimize disturbance to the Zoo residents.Labels: fireworks, Folsom Zoo

Get Ready to Cowboy Up
It's that time of the year again - time for the 2003 Folsom Pro Rodeo! From July 3 - 6 this year there will be bronco riding, fireworks, a carnival, and, of course, mutton busting! This year they'll have even have a nightly karaoke contest, loosely modeled after "American Idol", and a silver dollar hunt every night for the kids. Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce (on Wool Street), ranging from $10 - $15.
