Dogs Rule the Day
Folsom residents and mosque members sounded off on their opposition to a new dog boarding kennel proposed in a mixed-use zoning area. The kennel will be next to the mosque, currently under construction. Folsom City Council denied the appeal by vote of 4-1, in favor of the dog kennel. Eric King was the lone dissenting vote. * http://www.thedogguycompany.comLabels: dogs, Eric King, Folsom City Council, Islamic Society of Folsom, Mosque

It's a First Dog's Life
While the President and First Lady are busy solving the world's problems, the Bush dogs, Spot and Barney, seem to have it made. Iraq, terrorism, and the economy don't seem to bother Barney one bit... give him a Christmas ornament and he's a happy camper. Check out the White House's "BarneyCam" video, which features Laura Bush's dog running around the Oval Office, and well, being a dog. (Requires RealPlayer)

Dog Park Expected Soon in Folsom
The Folsom Parks District is expected to have a new off-leash dog park some time in the near future. Although last year's plan for a dog park in the Prairie Oaks area was ultimately dismissed, a new dog park is planned in Livermare Park off of Riley Street. It's also possible to have a new dog park in the Empire Ranch area once it is built out. Folsom is one of a few communities in the Sacramento area that still does not have an off-leash dog park. More information is available in the Sacramento Bee.Labels: dog park, dogs, FIDO
