New Spillways For Dam?

Folsom Dam Releasing 5%
In order to be 40% empty to accomodate snowpack in the Sierras, Bureau of Reclamation officials are letting out about 5% of the lake. The American River has risen about 2-3 feet because of this, and the lake should be at 40% by Sunday. Details on TheKCRAChannel.comLabels: Folsom Dam, USBOR

Folsom Dam Not Sufficient
The water stored from the Folsom Dam may be sufficient for now, however when Sacramento County's population is expected to boom by 2030, farmers will not get their water 45% of the time, if Folsom Lake is the only source. Representative John Doolittle has long advocated an Auburn Dam, however since that may be a political impossibility, Doolittle is turning his focus to a smaller Alder Dam, which would be a $63 million project DetailsLabels: Folsom Dam
