New Swim Team in Folsom

Vista Del Lago's pool is ready, so it will be hosting a new swim team in Folsom. The Folsom Tigersharks will be starting swim practice soon - kids aged 4-18 will be practicing for 4 months and cuminating at the Meet of Champions on August 1.

History Channel's TV Show "Life After People" recently showed an episode showcasing Folsom Dam failing and flooding Sacramento. "Life After People" is a show about what will happen to the world when humans are no longer around. Check it out online.

Pinkberry Coming to Palladio

Southern California frozen yogurt chain Pinkberry will be coming to Folsom soon - in the Palladio Mall. A date has not been set but their Sacramento location will open April 4. Can Folsom support more fro-yo? They are betting on it!

Bulldog Auction!

Local parents and businesses have donated items for auction, which are now available online for the Bulldog Bash. Bid on items from a weekend cabin, to premium seats for graduation. The auction ends March 12, so get bidding!

Sutter Street Work Begins

Workers have begun work on Sutter Street. Potholing has begun, and the medians are expected to be ripped up by next week. The historic beams have already been moved to another part of Folsom.

5 MPH Ban on Lake Lifted

Boaters will be happy to know that the 5 MPH ban is no longer in effect on Folsom Lake. The lake has gotten high enough that boaters have less obstacles to contend with. Debris from recent storms and other unmarked hazards may still be around though, so boat with caution.

Folsom a "Wealth Center"

Folsom made the nation's top 50 "wealth centers" (#50), and has the highest median income in the Sacramento area at $86,000. 8.4% of Folsom household incomes are higher than $200,000 a year. Roseville was on the list at 84, and Elk Grove was 81.

Toy Museum Planned for Sutter Street

Volunteers are being sought for a new toy museum, which is hoped to be open on Sutter Street by November. An introduction meeting will be held on Saturday, March 13 at the Murer House Learning Center in Folsom beginning at 1:30 pm. For more information, please email Candy Miller.

Diver's Cove Closing

Local SCUBA shop Diver's Cove is closing its doors. Owner Robert Flores sent a letter out to customers that after 13 years, he's been given an offer he can't pass up and will be soon deployed over in Iraq. It is unknown when the shop's last day will be.

Pre-School Fair Wednesday

Scouts to Plant 100 Trees

In Celebration of the Boy Scouts of America's 100th Anniversary, local scouts will be planting 100 trees by Folsom Dam on Wednesday. The oak saplings will be planted by the American River Water Education Center.

Car vs. Light Rail; All OK

A light rail train and automobile collided at Iron Point Road on Monday night; The driver apparently fell asleep and the car veered on to the track. Bystanders were able to get the driver and her 2 daughters out before the collision.

Collision Outside City Slickers Sports Bar

A collision involving a truck and pedestrian outside the City Slickers sports bar left the pedestrian dead and the driver of the truck hospitalized. The pedestrian may have had a prior argument with the driver, assaulting him.

Police Equine Unit Saved

Recent cutbacks in budgets have caused many police forces to drop their mounted patrol units and sell their horses. Through a partnership with the Grace Foundation, Folsom Police are able to keep their horses at a local stable, in exchange for appearances with their educational programs.

Numonyx Sold for $1.27B

Folsom-based Numonyx, an Intel spinoff in the flash memory business, has been sold to Micron Technology, a chipmaker based out of Idaho. 450 employees work in the Numonyx's North American headquarters in Folsom, and it is unknown how it will impact these employees.

Tour of CA Will Buzz Folsom
