Fire Guts Historic Folsom House

A fire took out a house in the 600 block of Wool Street. Fortunately, all residents and pets were uninjured and got out safely. The fire started in the front of the house but doesn't appear suspicious, according to firefighters. The house will probably have to come down.

Folsom Lake is at 400 feet, which means a 5 MPH boating restriction on the entire lake. Tickets cost $300 if you are caught speeding. 1994 was the last time the lake was this low this early in the season.

Man Arrested on $14K Gas Theft

Folsom Police arrested Michael Patrick Woulfe, 39, on charges for theft, after he was caught in an elaborate gas theft scheme. Woulfe was a former employee who stole the book of authorized managers and would line up cars at a local station and fill them up.

City Asks For 10% Water Cut

The City of Folsom has asked its residents to cut back its water usage by 10%. Folsom is one of the worst water wasters in the state, and the city will be patrolling neighborhoods looking for water wasting. The city has still not made any plans for using recycled water in its parks, however.

Cattle Drive & Shootout

A Folsom tradition is making its way through Sutter Street tomorrow... the annual cattle drive will round up all the longhorns from the rodeo and march through the streets of Folsom. If you have never been to this event, it's a must-see, and one of the most popular events of the year. Show up around 11:30 as the crowds will be packed - there's a small parade, western shootout, and of course, the cattle drive at "high noon".

Rodeo Will Have Fireworks

Nine-month-old Sarah Mooreland of Folsom had a rare skin disease, epidermolysis bullosa, and was in Minneapolis for a cutting-edge bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately she died from complications from the preliminary procedures. She was 9 months old.

It's Folsom Lake Crossing

In a move that stunned many, Folsom City Council decided to go against the grain and disassociate the city with Johnny Cash. 4 members of the public came forward to speak in favor of Johnny Cash, including the head of the Folsom Tourism Bureau... but the council decided to name it Folsom Lake Crossing, even though it doesn't even cross Folsom Lake. Kerri Howell was the lone dissenting vote.

Folsom Lake Overpass Complete

Construction on the overpass for construction vehicles is now complete at Folsom Lake. The Dam Raise construction project originally called for closing down Folsom point to recreational traffic, but public outcry changed the plans.

Drunk Driver Hits 2 Cyclists

A drunk driver hit 2 cyclists on Wednesday in El Dorado Hills, and both are in critical condition. Kathi Sturgeon, the pastor of women's ministries at Lakeside Church, and Katherine Hurd, are at Sutter Roseville and UCD Medical Center, respectively. 19-year old Brandi Thomas was arrested for felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury.

Boating season on Folsom Lake didn't last long this year... the lake is dropping fast, and the marina needs boats out by July 2. By July 15, the speed limit will be dropped to 5 mph around the lake. If there is no rain this summer, the lake will drop lower than last year.

JR Higley was drafted by the Washington Nationals, and Michael Hacker was given a second chance at the majors, when he was drafted by the Houston Astros. Hackner was originally drafted by the Twins in 2005 but later suffered an injury.

The 2 men wanted for a February assault are now in police custody. After seeing his face on the news (MyFolsom.com?), Michael Carillo turned himself in. Several viewers also identified Carillo. Angelo Phillips, of Sacramento, was also arrested.

Gamers flocked to Intel this weekend, as they hosted a 32-hour LAN (Local Area Network) Festival this weekend. Energy drinks and sugar fueled around 150 people, who paid $35 to square off with fellow gamers and play games like Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty 4.
