New Sac to Bay Air Shuttle Takes Off!

Posted on: August 21, 2019

Shuttle Plane

Over 40 local business people turned out to mark the inaugural flight of the Sacramento to Bay Area Air Shuttle service.

Dignitaries on hand were Folsom Mayor Kerrie Howell, former Folsom Mayor Bob Holderness, and Rancho Cordova Mayor Linda Budge, along with representatives from and Ambassadors from both Rancho Cordova and Folsom Chambers of Commerce.

During a brief speech, Greater Sacramento Economic Council President Barry Broome said that with 30,000 people moving from the Bay Area to the Sacramento region last year, and with a shared workforce of over 220,000 people, the region is increasingly becoming one labor market, and there is a need for more transportation options.

With this new charter service, one can leave Mather Field, and be in San Carlos or San Jose (depending on the day of the week), in 35 minutes, take care of business, and be back home for dinner.

At $350 round-trip, the price is comparable, or even cheaper than ground transportation options. A car from Sacramento to SFO for example, runs about $150 each way.

The shuttle, however, saves about 5 hours of travel time, and as the Greater Folsom Partnership president Joe Gagliardi noted, the time savings will allow for greater productivity.

It will be of great benefit for those who want to enjoy the easier Sacramento lifestyle, the lower cost of living, and still maintain business connections in the Bay Area.

This a 3 month pilot program, spear-headed by Will Kempton, a transportation and economic development consultant with the Greater Folsom Partnership, and if proven successful, will become permanent.

Also on today’s flight were Micah Runner, Deputy City Manager for Rancho Cordova, and Folsom resident and news anchor Cristina Mendonsa, along with a videographer, who will capture video highlights for a media release.
