Even with the reduction in flow from Folsom Dam, the lake is disappearing at an alarming rate.  As it does so, it is revealing more of what lies beneath.

The latest images from MyFolsom.com members include an old metal survey marker, initial carved in rocks, and remnants of an old cemetery.

Local Historian Cindy Baker confirms that this one, marked ‘Wild’ most likely belonged to the Wild family, which had a ranch in Mormon Island, and who’s heirs still own property in the Folsom Historic District.

There were a number of burial sites and cemeteries in the inundation area, including Mormon Island and Negro Hill,  that were all relocated to the Mormon Island relocation cemetery.
