Big Change
Ricci Amoruso was a 305-pound freshman at Folsom High - "Big Rick" as many called him. He finds out about the Academy of the Sierras - a high school program for overweight teens. Folsom Teacher Fighting Cancer
John Koppel, a Folsom Middle School teacher and father of 2, is fighting cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), which has no known cure. A golf tournament and past fundraiser are being held to help fight the disease.

Car Bomb Rocks Folsom
You read it correctly... KCRA and Fox40 News has reported that a Folsom resident was affected by a car bomb. Some sort of incindiary device was thrown in to a minivan at approximately 3am. Investigators are looking in to whether this was a hate crime, as the victims were of Fiji descent. A white male was seen running from the crime.

Dave Dravecky Comes to Folsom
Former San Francisco Giant Dave Dravecky made a miraculous comeback from cancer in 1988, when half of the deltoid muscle in his pitching arm was removed. Dravecky came back the next year and winning the game in his return to baseball. Though the cancer had eventually taken his arm, Dravecky's story is an inspiration to cancer patients and survivors everywhere. Dravecky will be speaking at New Song Christian Church this Sunday.Labels: cancer

Ground Broken for Hospital Expansion
Mercy Hospital is looking forward to a 22,000 square-foot, 25-bed expansion, which officially broke ground last week. The greater Folsom area has seen an amazing amount of growth in the last 10 years, and Mercy Folsom has been doing its best to keep up with the demand.Labels: Mercy Folsom
