Jack Kipp, 1920 - 2006
Jack Kipp, a 4th-generation and lifelong Folsom resident, passed away of natural causes on Friday. Kipp was well known for his contributions to the city, as he served as mayor for many years, and was influential in the city's growth. The city's civic center is named after him. Friends are invited to attend visitation Tues. May 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., & Wed. May 31 from Noon to 5 p.m. both at Miller Funeral Home in Folsom, and a rosary Wed. May 31, 2006 at 7 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial Thurs. June 1, 2006 at 10 a.m. both at St. John's Catholic Church in Folsom.

MotoCross Mania!
Just south of Folsom's city limits lies a popular destination for thousands of visitors a year. Prairie City SVRA is home to a great dirt-bike track, and also hosts the annual Hangtown Motocross Classic. This year's event attracted over 22,000 fans! If you saw a bunch of folks in muddy motocross gear, now you know why!

New Tastes Coming to Folsom
Awaiting final construction at Prairie City & Willard are several new eateries to Folsom. Intel workers will enjoy new lunch options with Goodfellas Expressly Italian, as well as an Indian-style grille, mexican restaurant, wrap eatery, as well as a stand-alone upscale restaurant. Home Invasion on Clemsford Square Reported
A home invasion was reported recently in Folsom. Two men in their late teens or early 20s forced their way inside a home, and robbed a Folsom resident of cash, jewelry and coins. The woman was uninjured.Labels: teens

50 Dam Years!
It's hard to remember Folsom as a town without the Folsom Dam, or Folsom Lake. 50 Years ago, the Dam was built, which created power, recreation, and flood control for the Sacramento Valley. A re-dedication of the Dam is slated for Saturday, May 20.Labels: Folsom Dam

Folsom Guard Unharmed After 10 Hour Standoff
"New Folsom" prison had a scare on Saturday, as an inmate took a guard hostage for 10 hours, upset over being fired from his job as a cook in the facility. Michael David Watson, in prison for robbery and false imprisonment, may be considered as a third strike for the hostage-taking.Labels: Folsom Prison

It's Handcar Season!
The yearly tradition of the Folsom Handcar Derby is upon us again. Young and old will convene this weekend for the 15th annual event - teams of five race along East Bidwell for the fastest runs.
