Folsom Lots at a Premium
John Laing homes has set a new record for Sacramento area real estate - it has recently purchased 16.5 acres in Folsom at almost $1.4million an acre. Though the real estate market is slowing down, Folsom remains a hot property - few buildable lots remain, and south of 50 expansion won't likely be for some time.Labels: real estate

Police Chief Named Interim Asst City Manager
Folsom Police Chief Sam Spiegel has been named interim Assistant City Manager, a position left vacant since the departure of Wil Kempton. Spegel's duties are primarily traffic management, and lobbying new bridge issues. Press Release

Bridge Sought Before December 2008
A recent announcement from the US Army Corps of Engineers about a delay in the Folsom Dam Bypass Bridge has ruffled a few city officials. City council members are lobbying to expidite the bridge construction as fast as possible. Historic-Style Garage OK'd for Old Folsom

Suicide of Folsom CHP
Brian Nicholson, a 40-year old California Highway Patrol sargeant, was found in the Lake Tahoe area, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Nicholsen was under investigation regarding the molestation of a 3-year old boy. He was divorced with 2 children.

Dam Improvements Cheaper, Faster
The US Army Corps of Engineers has decided to halt its 'general reevaluation report' on the modification of Folsom Dam for flood control. The dam's modifications are intended to release more water in times of severe storms. The original 2013 completion date is now obtainable again, and is still projected to be within budget.Labels: Folsom Dam, USACE

Folsom Man Arrested in Child Molestation Case
Richard Priest, 47, a Sacramento International Airport firefighter, has been arrested on suspicion of multiple child molestation acts. The victims were 4 girls between the ages of 6 and 9. Story in the Bee, Fox40.

Martha Clark Lofgren, city manager since 2000, has announced that she will be stepping down this spring. Lofgren cited desire to spend more time with family and to work in the public sector. She's been with the city since 1994.

City May Deal With Trash Blight
You asked for it, and you may receive. Folsom City Council will consider banning residents' trash/recycle bins in public view. These containers are a sore spot of residents who consider them an eyesore in front of everyone's houses. Coincidentally, this very topic has been quite popular on the forums.

Worried About Water
Folsom continues to expand... only problem is, we don't have enough water. If we had a drought year next year, the city would have to cut consumption by around 20%. By 2010, a 40% cutback would be needed. Find out what the city is doing.Labels: drought, future, water issues

Doug Udell, 1949 - 2005
Doug Udell, a former Folsom assistant city manager, passed away last Friday from a heart attack. He was 56. Udell ran for city council twice, in 2002, and 2004. Services are set for Thusday, 11 am, at Community Bible Church.Labels: Doug Udell, Folsom City Council, in memoriam
