Death Row Coming?
San Quentin is home to a number of death row inmates, including Scott Peterson. However, it is also home to some prime real estate in the Bay Area. If they were to shut it down and sell it, death row would likely end up in Folsom. A $200 expansion is due for San Quentin, however it is being quietly opposed by lawmakers who want San Quentin vacated by 2010. Story in today's Bee.Labels: future, real estate

Hotel Next to Diggings Irk Many
A historic area in southwest Folsom is home to old Chinese diggings from the gold rush area. Most people have never even visited it, however a lot are not happy about a 4-star hotel about to be built next to it. The upgrade to the area with a new fence and interpretive area is bittersweet to some, as they wish for nothing to be developed there. Story in the Bee.
