Folsom Cheerleaders Believe!
Cheerleaders from Folsom High School and Folsom Youth Football/Cheer are working together to support a Folsom High School sophomore recently diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. They are selling royal blue “BELIEVE” wristbands to show they believe in a cure, and will wear the wristbands until this student gets the "all clear" from doctors! It's a Goner
Sacramento County's oldest bridge (1915) will soon be history. Folsom city officials are moving forward with plans to tear down the outdated Orangevale Avenue Bridge, and replace it with a box-like bridge. Next target: widening the Rainbow Bridge. Full story in the Bee.Labels: Orangevale Bridge

Still Famous!
The Pickren boys, Folsom's newest Hollywood stars, are still enjoying some national exposure. After starring in "Meet the Fockers", they've also been in 4 episodes of "Days of Our Lives" and now on the cover of Life Magazine, with an estimated 12 million readers! Life is now an insert in 77 major newpapers, including the Sacramento Bee.

Historic Railway Found
An old rail route between Loomis and Folsom that was only used for 2 years has been discovered and re-created, thanks to GPS satellite navigation. The route was in place between 1860 and 1862; it was originally intended to go all the way to Auburn but ran out of money. The occasional railroad tie are the only remnants of this old route. Folsom-EDH road now open
In what hopes to be a road to help alleviate some traffic congestion in Folsom, a connector road between Folsom and El Dorado Hills is now open. The road was an extension of Sophia Parkway in El Dorado Hills to Empire Ranch Road in Folsom. Details in the Bee.

Vandals Target Ms. Teaz
In what can only be described as an immature incident from a Folsom resident, the owners of Ms. Teaz were shocked to see their car "keyed" after getting custom Ms Teaz license plates and parking near the Chamber of Commerce. The owners also report questionable ethics from the Chamber with outside businesses. Read and respond to it on the message boards.

Nimbus Dam Alarms Residents
Nimbus Dam recently installed a new automated alarm on the facility, so people down the American River will know that an influx of water is coming. The new alarm was used for the first time at 4:30 am on Tuesday. Though an alarm in the middle of the night is rare, it still is necessary sometimes to keep the public safe. Folsom Man Killed in Wreck
43-year old Keith Mangiapane, a Folsom resident, was killed last night in a motorcycle accident. Mangiapane was riding alongside his son, when he swerved in to oncoming traffic on Blue Ravine Road near Riley Street. Mangiapane was hit by a minivan and declared dead at the scene. It Keeps Growing...
Watch it grow. Folsom Lake College, now a large building surrounding by a sea of portables, will soon become the third largest community college in the Los Rios district (behind American River and Sac City). The college is expected to enroll 20,000 students in 10 years. Quite a feat for a school which used to be just 2 full-time faculty with 1200 students. Folsom Dam Releasing 5%
In order to be 40% empty to accomodate snowpack in the Sierras, Bureau of Reclamation officials are letting out about 5% of the lake. The American River has risen about 2-3 feet because of this, and the lake should be at 40% by Sunday. Details on TheKCRAChannel.comLabels: Folsom Dam, USBOR

Bush Pledges $7M for Bridge
President Bush's federal budget includes $7 million towards the construction of a new Folsom Dam Bridge. With this new pledge, $13 million will be set aside for the bridge. Congressman Doolittle is confident the bridge will receive full federal funding. Bee Article

South of 50 Plans Start
Though the proposed land south of US 50 have not been annexed yet, many consider it only a matter of time. Results from community workshops show that residents are concerned about 3 things - schools, water, and impact fees. Parolee Nabbed After Chase
Patrick Kelly, a 27-year old on his way to a treatment facility near Folsom Prison, escaped out of a transport van earlier today, and ended up at Orange Blossom Circle, where he asked to use a resident's phone. Resident Teresa Stanley became suspicious and fled to a neighbor's house, while Kelly stole her Toyota. Police later found and arrested him in Fair Oaks. Jazz Students Dazzle
Members of Folsom High's Jazz Choir performed among more than 100 jazz bands from all across Northern California, as they hosted the 16th Annual Folsom Jazz Festival. The event was a success, with approximately 3,000 people in attendance. The Jazz Choir will be travelling to Idaho and Texas later this semester to compete in other events.
