"Palladio at Broadstone" will be Mall Name
Folsom's highly anticipated mall in the Broadstone area will be called "Palladio at Broadstone", named after an italian architect who has designed villas in Italy which are tourist attractions. Palladio at Broadstone's open-air environment will include at least one building with the designer's style and may include a statue. More in the Bee.

Folsom Teen Collects 260 Security Blankets
Ashley Rothenburg, a Senior at Folsom High, decided for her school project, she would try a "security blanket" drive for kids who needed a little love. After a little publicity on the subject, she collected 260 blankets and donated them to Powerhouse Ministries and the Sacramento Children's Home. Sutter St. to Hire $15K Consultant
Sutter Street merchants, Folsom Chamber of Commerce, and Folsom Redevelopment agency have kicked down $15,000 to hire an economic development consultant in guiding them through a revitalization process. Lions Club Faces Lawsuit
The Folsom Lions Club has been warned by their national headquarters about their involvement with the proposed city council recall, as they have now been informed that a lawsuit is intended to be filed over a potential $200,000 city council recall election. Skaters Face Fines
Now that Folsom has it's very own skate park, city officials are aiming to curb skateboarding in public areas such as local businesses and schools. FCUSD spends around $5000 a year to make skating-related repairs, and now kids are prone to a $50-$100 fine for skating in areas that have posted signs. See the Bee for details.Labels: schools

Library Plans on Review
Folsom City Council is currently reviewing plans for the new proposed city library, a 24,000 square-foot facility which will be built on an existing softball field. Part of the $12 million cost will be in a 13,200 square foot library at the future Empire Ranch High School. The new library will have many amenities, including a coffee bar. Folsom Prison has been home to many criminals, some famous and some not so famous... however it has stood the test of time over the years. One of California's oldest prisons was created as a means of cheap labor for creating a sawmill, and eventually the Folsom Powerhouse. Light Rail On Time For June 2005
Folsom's light rail plans are coming along nicely, with a $230 million construction project that will hopefully get commuters to Sacramento in 37 minutes. In-N-Out Rumors Confirmed
In what has become something of an urban legend in Folsom, In-N-Out Burger and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will be coming to Folsom as soon as 2005. Cordano Company have confirmed the sale of 10 acres at Highway 50 and East Bidwell for the two restaurants, as well as a couple of sit-down restaurants and two midsize hotels. Excursion Train Sought
Railroad enthusiasts are optimistic about the proposed plans for an excursion train from Historic Folsom to the Broadstone area, over tracks which have not been in use for many years. The cost would not come cheap - $3.5 Million - and would likely not be a profitable venture. New Chips For Intel
Intel, the largest employer in the Sacramento Valley, has announced 4 new microchips which may slash costs in half, while delivering higher performance. Its new "Prescott" line of Pentium 4 chips uses circuits that are 90 billionths of a nanometer wide, some at only 4-7 atoms thick. More in the Business Journal.
