Intel Expansion Unlikely
Though $20 million has already been spent on the expansion of Intel's Folsom campus with the beginning stages of construction of FM-8, FM-9, and a parking garage, it is unlikely Intel will start the project back up unless California reforms its worker's compensation and tax issues. Intel CEO Craig Barrett was recently reported from Reuters as saying Intel would never expand its business in California. More in today's Bee.

"Quiet Day" Once a Week at Folsom Lake?
A Folsom resident, tired of being scared by nearby boats on the recreational Folsom Lake, has pitched an idea to park officials to institute a "quiet day" at Folsom Lake once a week, which would ban motor boats. Park officials are still a year away from making any decisions, but the idea does not sit well with boaters, especially with Lake Natoma just downstream, which forbids motor boats. Traffic Calming Not Well Received By Motorists
The city's attempts at diverting traffic away from residential areas has failed, at least in the eyes of motorists. Drivers are routinely ignoring "no right turn" areas, more than 1 in 4 are breaking the law. Partially to blame are police officers for failing to issue citations, however one thing's for sure, traffic in Old Folsom is a mess. More in the Telegraph. In related news, a federal study is examining the environmental impact of the Dam Road closure in Folsom. Results won't be available until 2005.

BOO!
It's almost Halloween and that means one thing in Folsom: Boo-grams! Folsom is unique in that it is one of a few communities that celebrate a yearly tradition of gathering goodies for their neighbors, and doorbell-ditching once they deliver the gift. In return, the recipient must pass the favor to another neighbor who has not yet been "Boo'd". By Halloween, it's very common to drive through neighborhoods and notice all the houses have been "Boo'd"! Telegraph article
